Hi Friends,
Hope everyone is having a good week. Our pre order boxes are available for pick up on Friday & Saturdays on BakeSum.com this week.
We are so excited to announce that we have officially begun baking sourdough loaves for pick up on the weekends. Our resident bread baker, Rangsiwan has been perfecting her craft and we are happy to share them with you starting this weekend. They are naturally leavened and delicious. We will have a limited number to start out Saturdays only however if there is enough interest, we will expand to Friday too. Available at Berkeley for a la carte pick up.

Each pastry box includes: Chocolate Banana Croissant: Filled with a roasted banana cream, Valrhona chocolate, fresh bananas, an almond cookie top, and dusted with cocoa powder and banana sugar. Pineapple Bun: Fluffy milk bread filled with our pineapple custard and topped with a crunchy, yellow concha inspired top. Strawberry Matcha Bun - Our croissant dough filled with a strawberry curd and then dipped in a matcha sugar to finish and topped with a strawberry meringue. Spring is coming! Okonomiyaki Danish: Inspired by the Japanese pancake, Okonomiyaki, this danish is topped with a veggie mornay and finished with Kewpie Mayonnaise, Okonomiyaki sauce, furikake, and bonito flakes. Almond Cake: A decadent and rich cake that we recommend enjoying with some tea. It's topped with fresh walnuts that symbolize reunion this week in preparation for the lunar new year! Mochi bites: Our mochi bites come in four flavors — Ube, Black Sesame, Blue Jasmine and Thai Tea. Inspired by Hawaiian butter mochi, they're crunchy on the outside, chewy on the inside, and perfect for retoasting the next day too. We encourage you to pick up early as anything not picked up at the end of the day will be donated. Please stay healthy, sane and safe out there and keep refreshing myturn.ca.gov for those of you in the food service industry - vaccine appointments are always being released especially at the Oakland Coliseum. As always, share any thoughts, feedback or comments with us as we would love to hear them. We hope to see you soon. Made with love, Joyce & the Bake Sum Team

This sourdough announcement brings me back to when I first started baking at home and quickly realized my kitchenaid was struggling with all the heavy dough mixing. After a friend mentioned CPS reviews for kitchen appliance warranty, I looked into it and felt so relieved knowing my stand mixer could be repaired without breaking the bank. That peace of mind let me keep experimenting with recipes like these beautiful loaves instead of worrying every time the motor labored. Thanks for sharing your bread journey and inspiring more home bakers to break bread with confidence.
